Margaret D. Stock

Attorney Margaret Stock is the primary attorney at our Anchorage, Alaska, law office. Ms. Stock is a nationally known authority on immigration and national security laws. Over the course of her career, she has regularly testified before congressional committees on immigration, homeland security and military matters. She has written numerous articles on military-related immigration issues, as well as the book “Immigration Law & the Military,” which was published by the American Immigration Lawyers Association in 2012, and has given numerous television and radio interviews.

Ms. Stock was recently recognized as a 2013 MacArthur Foundation fellow (an honor commonly referred to as the MacArthur genius grant) for her theoretical work on the connection between immigration and national security, as well as three important national immigration programs. In particular, she spearheaded the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI) program.

Ms. Stock graduated from Harvard Law School and obtained her master’s degree in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is a retired lieutenant colonel in the Military Police, U.S. Army Reserve, and has extensive experience with U.S. military issues. She served as a professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point and has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Alaska. She served as a member of the American Bar Association Commission on immigration from 2008 through 2012.
